4to (cm 20), recent red morocco gilt binding in the style of Bozerian, a very clean copy, unwashed. Nice woodcut on first titlepage, repeated at the end of 2nd work, gothic type, ff. (8) + (8). First edition of this sharp attack against the corruption and the vices of the papal court, written around 1350 and addressed to Pope Clemente VI (see P.D. Trapp, in "Recherches de th_ologie ancienne et m_di_vale", n. 245, 1957, pp. 101-154). The text circulated widely through several manuscripts and was then modified during the Renaissance, when gained new popularity especially after the election of Pope Alexander VI Borgia. Arnoult 106; Cop.524=5030; Goff A-916; GW 2255. The 'Dialogus' is another script against the Church, of medieval origin (sometime attributed to Ochkam), and the 'De vita antichristi' was as well a widely circulating text (often banned and censored), possibly the first 'antibiography' in its kind, which went through several incunable editions. Arnoult 522; BMC VIII 65; Goff D157; GW 8273. Rare ensemble. (A more wide description vailable on request).
